Vyacheslav Gladkov has stated that Moscow’s forces have everything under control in the border region
Ukrainian forces have reportedly been attempting to enter Russia’s Belgorod Region, but Governor Vyachelsav Gladkov has offered assurances that Russian troops were securing the border and that everything was under control.
Several media outlets reported on Tuesday that Ukrainian troops had engaged in combat with Russian military personnel near the settlement of Nekhoteyevka and the Shebekin checkpoint in Belgorod Region.
Writing on his official Telegram account later in the day, Gladkov stressed that “according to the Russian Defense Ministry, the situation on the border remains difficult but under control.”
“Our military is carrying out planned work. I ask you to remain calm and trust only official sources of information,” the governor wrote.
His statement comes as several settlements across Belgorod Region were attacked by Ukraine’s forces using artillery and drones over the past 24 hours. The strikes resulted in a total of 16 damaged homes, 11 cars, two outbuildings, 13 apartment buildings, one social facility, five commercial facilities and one agricultural enterprise, according to Gladkov.

Several people were injured in the attacks. In the village of Kosilovo, a Ukrainian kamikaze drone flew into a private house, causing three women to suffer shrapnel wounds. In the Krasnoyaruzhskiy district, two people were injured in a drone strike. Six civilians were also injured in artillery strikes near the town of Shebekino.
Additionally, Gladkov reported that Shebekino and the town of Novaya Tavolzhanka also came under attack by Kiev’s forces, causing two residential buildings to catch fire and damaging the windows, facades and roofs of several other houses.
Those attacks did not result in any casualties, but information is still being verified, the governor said, noting that the administration and emergency services continue to patrol the affected areas.
Belgorod Region, like the regions of Bryansk and Kursk, shares a border with Ukraine, and has been attacked by Kiev’s forces over the course of the conflict on an almost daily basis. The indiscriminate artillery, missile, and drone strikes have inflicted considerable damage on local civilian infrastructure and property, and have left dozens of locals killed and injured.
