Stockholm has formally been greenlit for accession to the US-led bloc
Sweden has officially become the 32nd member of the US-led North Atlantic Treaty Organization after the document formalizing Stockholm’s accession to the bloc entered into force on Thursday.
The accession ceremony was held in Washington and was attended by Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson. In the accession document, the US Secretary of State declared that all the conditions for Sweden’s entry into NATO had been fulfilled and that the protocol signifying Stockholm’s membership entered into force on March 7, 2024.
